The artwork of some Carroll County High School students can be spotted on a snow plow as the winter season arrives. The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet offered high schools the opportunity to Paint the Plow during the inaugural safe winter driving promotion. CCHS art teacher Jeremy Cobb selected a group of artists to paint the plow. The blade is 12 feet wide and 4 feet high. Robin Dillard, Addyson Campbell, Savannah Wright, Grace Whisman, Hailey Kurtz and Brenna Mefford brought to life the image of a snowman that was hit and toppled by someone not driving safely in the snow. The plow was brought to CCHS by the local state highway department workers. Its home was in the makerspace until it was picked up recently.

The high schoolers who attended were Hannah Weedman, Makayla Keithley, Shelby Hillebrandt, Coy Willhoite and Aiden Lilley. Cook Like A Rockstar is a popular Focus Friday class at Carroll County High School. The instructor was awarded $1,750 in grant money through the local McDonald’s restaurant. Tracey Reynolds, the youth services coordinator at CCHS, applied for the grant to benefit the class taught by Bessie Howard. She sought $750, which she was awarded. As a bonus, Grant Groen, owner of the Carrollton McDonald’s, donated another $1,000 to the cause. The students have learned to make entrees and desserts in class. In the spring semester, they will take a trip to Sullivan University to learn about their culinary arts program.
