Carroll County Middle School instructional coach Mandy Young has been selected to present at the annual Scott Trimble Conference, hosted by the Kentucky Association of Assessment Coordinators on Oct. 28 in Louisville.
Young, who also serves as the school’s building assessment coordinator, will lead a 45-minute session on how Carroll County educators use the PDSA (Plan-Do-Study-Act) cycle to guide student learning and school improvement.
“The PDSA cycle is how we run all of the things we do here in the building,” Young said. “We make plans together, we implement the plans, come back and look at the data, and then decide our next steps. It’s a very intentional way of thinking about doing things, but it’s become embedded. It’s the way we do business here.”
The process was introduced to Carroll County educators by education recovery leaders, and Young said the results were so impactful that the method became part of the school’s daily operations. Teachers and staff now rely on the PDSA cycle to make decisions that directly impact student achievement.
Carroll County Schools Superintendent Casey Jaynes expressed his pride in Young. “It is amazing that Mrs. Young has been selected to present. Educators from across Kentucky are recognizing the work that the staff and students are doing at CCMS. They are truly an example of being a top 10 district in Kentucky,” he said.
Young, who has attended the Scott Trimble Conference for the past three years, said she is excited to share Carroll County’s success with educators from across the state.
“I want to share all the great things we have going on here in our building,” Young said. “We’ve seen real success using this process.”
CCMS Principal Dr. Robin Stephenson also praised Young. “Our instructional coach, Mandy Young, puts in tireless effort each day at CCMS to support teachers and students with dedication, knowledge, and heart, and we are so proud of her for being chosen to present at the Scott Trimble Conference,” Stephenson said.
