Carroll County Schools is hosting a community Trunk or Treat on October 29, and you’re invited! Around 65 school groups, teams and staff members will be ready with candy and Halloween fun for our little ghosts and goblins. Everyone is asked to park in the Cartmell Elementary lots and walk to CCHS.

The district welcomed business and community leaders to Carroll County Middle School, where students from across grade levels took part in the program. Two students from Kathryn Winn Primary greeted guests, two Cartmell Elementary students led the Pledge of Allegiance, and two Carroll County High School students shared highlights about our district. The CCMS band performed for the guests and the W.E.B. Leaders served as hosts and hostesses.
Each student was well-spoken, confident and poised throughout their presentation. We’re proud of these students and the way they represented Carroll County Schools!

The ELL students made the same presentation to their class and other districtwide administrators recently as part of an initiative to improve their speaking and presentation skills as well as give them confidence in their abilities. Each student spoke about their culture and a favorite food connected to their lineage. They explained why it is culturally significant, why they like the food and how to prepare the dish.
Join Carroll County Schools from 5-7 p.m. on October 29 for an evening of Halloween fun! Approximately 65 school groups, teams and staff members will line the Carroll County High School parking lot, ready to hand out candy to our community. Everyone should park at Cartmell Elementary School and walk to the high school parking lot. The Highway 227/Park Avenue entrance to CCHS will be closed to vehicle traffic during our event.
Bring the family, dress up in your favorite Halloween costume and enjoy a fun night of trick-or-treating with our Panther family. Everyone is welcome!

Four grades within Carroll County Middle and High School are participating in the Kentucky Incentives for Prevention (KIP) Youth Survey on November 4. Parent permission is required for students in grades 6, 8, 10 and 12 to participate in the survey. Regular emails and text messages have been sent to parents in those grades asking for the permission slip to be completed. Participation is voluntary, but the results do help counselors and mental health providers know what types of support our students need to be successful.

This appointment will be effective until the November 2027 regular election. The Carroll County Board of Education has 60 days to select a person to fill the vacancy or the Kentucky Department of Education will appoint a representative.
Responsibilities include:
Setting policy to govern the district
Hiring/evaluating the superintendent
Levying taxes
Adopting the district budget
Board members must:
Be at least 24 years old and a Kentucky citizen for the last three years
Be a registered voter in District 1
Have completed the 12th grade or have a GED certificate
Meet all other legal qualifications (KRS 160.180)
Complete required annual in-service training.

Kentucky is experiencing a measles outbreak with 170 confirmed cases as of October 16, 2026. Measles, a highly contagious illness, can be prevented by receiving the measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccination.
The Kentucky Department for Public Health has confirmed cases in Carroll County, but there are none in Carroll County Schools. Measles symptoms include a high fever, cough, runny nose, red or watery eyes and a rash. Please be mindful of these symptoms before sending children to school. Some general information to consider:
‣ Kentucky currently has 170 confirmed cases of measles in Kentucky.
‣Measles is highly contagious. Exposure can occur simply by being in the same area, such as a gym, as someone with measles.
‣Two MMR doses are recommended for full vaccination.
‣If someone is exposed and is not fully vaccinated, they may need to remain home and be monitored for 21 days. We can offer home hospital services during this time if appropriate.
‣A healthcare provider can order a test to check immunity.
‣After exposure, a child may be able to receive an additional MMR dose if at least 30 days have passed since the previous dose.
Carroll County Schools is celebrating progress on the Kentucky Summative Assessment test across all schools.
We’re proud to showcase our student accomplishments, including:
Cartmell Elementary moved out of TSI (Targeted Support and Improvement) status. It has been a TSI school for the past two years and has required intensive state and federal support.
Carroll County Middle School received a blue rating, the highest rating, for progress in English language proficiency.
Carroll County High School received a blue rating, the highest rating, for postsecondary readiness. They scored 14% higher than the state.
Carroll County High School increased from an orange to a yellow rating for their overall score, moving from low performance to medium performance.
Reading scores at all three school testing levels - elementary, middle and high - showed an increase in the number of students who are performing at proficient and distinguished levels.
“We will continue to celebrate growth and focus on what our students need to be successful,” said Carroll County Schools Superintendent Dr. Robin Stephenson. However, the vision for Carroll County Schools goes beyond test scores.
“I want the schools in our community to be the most inviting places in town; places where students enjoy coming each day, families feel welcome, and community members are proud to visit,” Stephenson said, emphasizing that everyone should know they are welcome in Carroll County Schools’ buildings. “That kind of environment doesn't happen by accident. It comes from the way we treat one another, the relationships we build, the opportunities we provide, and the care we show our students, staff, and families every day.”

Officer Gividen is communicating with his friends and colleagues while he remains hospitalized.
“I’m recovering well. We caught the episode early and I will make a good recovery,” Gividen said via text message.
CCMS students spontaneously began leaving well wishes on Gividen’s office door for him after learning he was hospitalized.
Please continue to keep Officer Gividen in your thoughts and prayers as he recovers.
