Carroll County Schools will release early today due to ongoing rain and rising water levels throughout the county. Dismissal will begin at 1 p.m. Cartmell students will board the bus at 1 p.m., CCHS at 1:10 p.m., CCMS at 1:20 p.m. and Winn at 1:30 p.m.
Carroll County Middle School’s track and field team saw all athletes earn top 15 rankings during their meet on April 1.

Girls 100 Meter Dash - Giselle Gutierrez Diaz, fifth place, 16.47.
Girls 200 Meter Dash - Giselle Gutierrez Diaz, seventh place, 35.90.
Boys 100 Meter Dash - Zander Webb, sixth place, 15.49; Waylon Johnson, seventh place, 15.70; Mason Harmon, eighth place, 15.78; and Layton Butcher, 14th place, 17.98.
Boys 200 Meter Dash - Waylon Johnson, third place, 32.32; Mason Harmon, fifth place, 33.32; Henry Mefford, eighth place, 34.98; and Layton Butcher, 12th place, 40.42.
Boys 400 Meter Dash - Zander Webb, second place, 1:10.76; Henry Mefford, eighth place, 1:26.93.
Boys 800 Meter Run - Israel Maldonado, first place, 2:44.14; and Johnathan Pirtle, fifth place, 3:27.65.
Boys 4x100 Meter Relay - Waylon Johnson, Mason Harmon, Henry Mefford and Zander Webb, second place, 1:03.15.
Boys Long Jump - Waylon Johnson, fourth place, 12-00.50; Zander Webb, fifth place, 11-06.00; and Layton Butcher, eighth place, 9-08.00.
Boys Shot Put - Jaxson Wilson, fourth place, 20-00.00 and Alan McCarthy, fifth place, 18-09.00.

Did you know that Carroll County Middle School has its own store? The Panther Store is the place where students go to spend their PBIS points. The best part about the Panther Store though is its employees.
The Panther Store is run by a dedicated group of students and Ms. Carmen Simo-Perkins. Together they help pack items, deliver orders, and manage the inventory to keep the store running smoothly.
The student employees say they like being able to help provide a fun experience for other students. They also said the application and interview process helped them build skills they can carry with them into the real world. The students who work in the Panther Store are: Kelsey Hash, Jonathan Pirtle, Mason Roberts, Yocelyn Sanchez Gomez, Nikki Smith, and Zander Webb.
This is just a reminder about Carroll County Middle School conferences and bingo night tonight. It starts at 3:30 and ends at 5:30. Come out for information, snacks, and family bingo. See you soon! The Book Fair and its traveling companion the Trinket Trolly are here at CCMS this week. The Book Fair will be open each day from 7:30-11:00. It will also be open Wednesday evening from 3:30-6:00 during Student Led Conferences. The Trinket Trolly is available during lunch. The Carroll County Middle School Chess Club participated in the Queen City Chess Tournament over the weekend. Congratulations to Denver Corchado for his Top-10 finish!
This classroom has been turned into a giant chess board. Mr. Roberts hosts the Chess Club, a place where students can go to learn the art of chess. Students here love to help each other hone their Chess skills and are always looking for new players. The Chess Club meets after school every Monday.
The CCMS Academic Team and Future Problem Solvers were recognized during a recent Carroll County Board of Education meeting. Some of our members posed for photos with Superintendent Casey Jaynes. Congratulations to all of these Panthers on their achievements!
Carroll County Fiscal Court recognized our school counselors and social workers today when they read two declarations. March was recognized as Social Worker Appreciation Month while April was noted as Child Abuse Prevention Month. Members of the Cabinet for Families and Children were also recognized.

Several students in the gifted and talented program had the opportunity to meet with a coral cat shark and ambassadors from the Newport Aquarium to compare shark species and explore ways to take an active role in conservation efforts. During the visit, they were able to closely examine the colors and unique adaptations of coral cat sharks, gaining a deeper understanding of how these fascinating creatures have evolved to thrive in their environment. Carroll County Middle School held a House Assembly today. The assembly featured recognition for student achievements, student performers, and a House vs House game of Musical Chairs.
Eliana Davis, Rebbecca Hutchinson, Faith Lee, Jaxson Wilson, Brayden Proctor, Lilliana Mefford, Jaylea Puckett, and Masyn Wells were recognized for being Students of the Month.
Ryan Morris, Gabe Huff, and Mr. Roberts were the winners of the Positive Office Referral random drawing.
Kelsey Hash was recognized by band director Mr. Hawks for earning a distinguished rating at Solo and Ensemble.
Our Student Performers were Ms. Gonterman’s Line Dancing Club and Mason Roberts, who played the guitar.
We closed out the House Assembly with a House vs House game of Musical Chairs. Two representatives from each house competed to see who was victorious. Our two winning houses were Sollevare, the yellow house, and Altruismo, the black house.
The CCMS academic team and future problem solvers team were recognized tonight for their achievements at district and regional competitions. Two of their crew, Johnathan Pirtle and Alan McCarthy made it to the state contest. Congratulations to these Panthers!
In Mr Bell’s sixth grade science class, students had the opportunity to create different types of rocks with modeling clay.
The Book Fair will be at CCMS from March 31st until April 4th. It will also be open during Student Led conferences on April 2nd.
